Obituary for Edward Hannibal

Edward H. Hannibal is the son of the late Edward Stanley Hannibal and Adelaide Hannibal. He is survived by his wife, Frances Hannibal, his brother, Bill Hannibal, his sister-in-law, Mary Hannibal, and his two sons, Darryl and Derrick Hannibal. His extended family includes his stepson, Lee Neal, and his two daughters, Naomi Neal and Brenda Rodriquez.

Edward Hannibal was a retired auto assembly plant worker for Fords Motor Company, which was once located in Metuchen, New Jersey. He was a tireless worker who could be counted upon to work hard and do an exemplary job. He rarely, if ever, took time off until he retired in 2002.

Edward Hannibal had a very keen intellect. He enjoyed word studies, mathematics (as it relates to nature), the universe and science. He also had skills as a carpenter and would often build his own cabinets and wooden fences for his home. He was a very friendly man with a good temperament. He was a cheerful sort who really enjoyed living. He was a devoted husband to his wife and was a loving and patient father to his children. He was an excellent provider!

Edward Hannibal's story could not be told without emphasizing his greatest love, which was serving Jehovah! In 1953, he dedicated his life to Jehovah and was baptized. He served as a congregation servant in the late 1950s and later as an elder. He was an elder when he passed away.

His Joy was serving Jehovah and he used his knowledge of the bible and of math and science to prove that Jehovah is our creator worthy of our worship. He loved our earthly organization and the spiritual provisions from the faithful and discreet slave class! He stated that back in the early 1950s a brother said to him, “If the society does not teach it spiritually, we don't.” He remembered that. He did not teach or speculate beyond what was written. In fact, a sister once asked him,
“How do you seem to have some knowledge of ANY subject that came up?” The sister said he proclaimed, “I read the Watchtower and Awake magazines!” Indeed, he was an avid reader of the bible and of our publications. He stuck to the truth.

Finally, Edward Hannibal never stopped teaching and preaching the good news of the kingdom! He experienced the joy of helping others make the truth their own. He loved using illustrations to make the truth easier to understand. When he was home bound, he would witness to his nurses, doctors and anyone who would listen. He simply loved teaching bible truths. He would try to encourage fellow friends who would call him for spiritual advice or he would just be a good listening ear. He would want his obituary to praise Jehovah and encourage fellow believers to continue to fight the fine fight of the faith with everlasting life in view!

After 66 years of faithful service, Edward Hannibal passed away November 1, 2019 He is at rest now until we get to greet and hug him again on a paradise earth.
